Job Description

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Leads and implements continuous improvement, lean, and 5S initiatives which improve cost, quality, schedule, and/or safety for AOR.
 

Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in a related field; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word); Microsoft Access and Visio, VBA, SharePoint, Power BI, and SAP experience a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree in Systems / Industrial Engineering.  Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. 

Six Sigma or Lean Certification

Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement projects

Strong communication skills to lead project teams and facilitate events
