The Role

HII’s Corporate Strategy & Development team is responsible for driving HII’s enterprise strategy, including annual strategic planning, partnerships, growth strategies, market & defense budget assessments, strategic initiatives, international development efforts, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A).

 

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Corporate Strategy in our Arlington, VA office.  The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to quickly grasp complex business concepts, design analytical frameworks, and build trust and buy-in from stakeholders across the company to guide HII’s corporate strategy efforts.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conduct US defense budget and global defense market analysis (e.g., market segmentation, sizing, forecasting, market/customer & competitive trends)
  • Manage cross-functional teams and collaborate across business units to support the development and execution of business, capture and growth strategies
  • Drives enterprise strategy process, annual strategic plan and quarterly strategic reviews
  • Perform primary- and secondary-source research using a variety of inputs, including industry-specific databases, trade and general news, company reports, industry reports, government databases, and other sources as needed
  • Conduct market, competitor and customer research, analysis, modeling and risk assessments to deliver insights on strategy and M&A diligence projects
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives, business assessments and partnership strategies
  • Translate complex ideas and concepts into clear, data-driven narratives for executive stakeholders
  • Prepare presentations for Board of Directors, executive leadership and investor audiences
  • Collaborate across the global HII organization, including with finance, technology, business development and division/business unit stakeholders
  • Support the M&A due diligence process

Must Have

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, government services or shipbuilding industries
  • Prior experience in corporate strategy, strategy consulting or management consulting
  • Strong knowledge of the US defense budget, defense market and competitive landscape, with an emphasis on the shipbuilding and/or government services & technology markets
  • Demonstrated skills creating presentation deliverables, designing Excel-based financial and/or market models, and conducting budget & market analysis
  • Strong project management skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
