The Role

The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This individual will play a critical role in promoting a culture of safety within the organization, conducting risk assessments, and leading safety training initiatives to reduce workplace hazards.

Must Have

Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (or the equivalent in education, training and experience), plus a minimum of 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's degree and 2 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have

Experience in occupational safety, preferably within the shipbuilding, NAVSEA, maritime, or heavy manufacturing and/or industrial sectors.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, maritime safety standards, and other relevant laws.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate employees at all levels.
Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
