The Role
The position is responsible for the daily operation of the Audiology function and the planning for the Hearing Conservation Program. Contact is maintained with Health and Safety regarding identification of noise hazards in the workplace and maintains open communication with Trades Management within the Company. The position establishes noise related monitoring criteria for employees. The position consults with outside audiology and otology practitioners as necessary concerning evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of employee hearing related concerns. The position also consults with Workers’ Compensation investigators and legal counsel concerning employee claims. The position schedules audiometric examinations for prospective, terminating, and retiring employees as well as employees included in the hearing conservation program. This position reviews annual exams and follows up on any problems identified, which may include further audiology testing to determine the etiology of the hearing loss, treatment, and / or referral to an outside practitioner. This position shall ensure appropriate approval process is followed to select and purchase audiometric equipment and medical durables. This position determines if injuries and / or loss of hearing are occupationally related, files appropriate Record of Occupational Injury and ensures necessary follow-up procedures are conducted per OSHA standards and other federal and state regulatory agencies, and represents the Company as an expert in court proceedings for disputed injuries.
Must Have
Au.D. and licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology and 7 years of experience; includes ASHA or ABA certification
