The Role

Operates automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in various production processes in accordance with operating procedures. Equipment includes mixers, grinders, filter presses, dryers, filtering equipment, pumps, and filling machines. Performs quality control analyses as required to complete in-process batches and identifies variations. Processes may generate high pressure and/or critical reactions and requires training in hazardous material handling and emergency procedures. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

 

Specific to this position:

This position operates under the direct supervision of the Treatment Plant Supervisor and the technical guidance of Senior Treatment Plant Technicians. Successful candidate will perform industrial wastewater treatment processes relying on established treatment plant operation procedures and environmental standards and regulations for guidance.


Additional areas of responsibility include and are not limited to:


• Operate the Chemical Wastewater & Oily Wastewater Treatment facilities; ensuring the removal or reduction of heavy metals and/or other contaminants prior to discharge
• Monitors unit processes (equalization, chemical addition, filtration, etc.) and adjusts flow rates, chemical feedrates and other variables to properly treat wastewater handled by these facilities.
• Operate filter presses and other related equipment, as necessary
• Collects and analyzes wastewater samples, identifying chemical properties and contaminants to determine required treatment processes and/or evaluate plant operating performance
• Collects and records operational data from unit instrumentation and sample analysis, and prepares written records and reports as required
• Monitors operating conditions and notifies appropriate personnel when maintenance and repair work is needed
• Monitors chemical and equipment inventories
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and general housekeeping at facilities
• May coordinate the transportation, segregation and storage of industrial wastewater

 

 

Must Have

High School/GED and 0 years of additional education and/or experience

Nice to Have

• Candidate will need to be able to enter tight spaces, climbing, kneeling, stooping and standing for extended periods of time
• Operation is 24/7 - Should be able to work a variable work schedule including all shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays
• Industrial Waste Water Treatment/Plant Operator/Technical Operations Control experience is highly desirable
• Industrial Waste Water Treatment/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator – minimum of 2 years of experience
• Wastewater Works Operator License – Class 3 or higher
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
