The Role
The HII Corporate Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing key elements of HII’s Insurance Program including “All Risk” Property, Cyber Workers’ Compensation and Management Liability coverage lines . This role ensures the Company is adequately protected against various risks, manages insurance policies, handles claims, and drives initiatives to minimize potential losses, enhance safety, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of insurance principles, and a proactive approach to risk management.
- Leads the identification, communication, measurement, and management of company-wide risk.
- Manages insurance program administration, develops and implements risk management and compliance policies/procedures, and manages non-litigated claims
- Oversees the operations of HII’s Vermont-domiciled Captive Insurance Company, including work performed by Aon in their role as local captive manager.
- Evaluates and provides recommendations regarding selection of policies, including but not limited to: Property Workers’ Compensation, Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Cyber-risk policies as well as other insurance program elements which address non-third party risks.
- Coordinates and submits, as necessary, the gathering of insurance policy renewal data.
- Working with HII’s broker, negotiates insurance renewal terms
- Works with HII’s broker to respond to requests for certificates of insurance and claims history document.
- Provides timely notification of claims to insurance carriers Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; OR
Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Risk Management
Two or more years of experience working in a Corporate Risk Management Organization
Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
