Job Description
Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.
Basic Qualifications

Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate will work in a multi-discipline engineering group that is cognizant of FORD Class propulsion plant systems. 
  • Candidate must already have an active clearance (at least Confidential). 
  • Ideal candidate will:
    • Be proficient in the DCR process. 
    • Possess physical ability to occasionally visit ship and lab. 
    • Be CAD and Team Center proficient. 
    • Have solid knowledge of overall shipbuilding processes and methods. 
    • Be proficient in MS Office Suite. 
    • Be able to communicate effectively, with technical rigor.
    • Work well within a group environment, work independently, and produce results with minimal assistance.
    • Ideal candidate will possess physical ability to occasionally visit ship and lab.
