Job Description

This position is for one of the test engineer positions for the A1B PP-DE/DT team.  Responsibilities include testing applications, verification and validation testing, support for PP-DE/DT disk image development, supporting the A1B PP-DE/DT technical manual, implementing cybersecurity controls, and supporting the PP-DE/DT development lifecycle (from CONOPS to testing and documentation to ship deployment for use).


-at minimum, have an active confidential clearance.

-have technical writing skills (i.e., have written documents to/for DoD/DoE customers).

-have basic understanding of computer and network systems, processes, and software integration.

-have experience with Windows OS (e.g., 7 and 10) and Non-Windows OS (e.g., Linux).

-have a basic understanding of, and interest in, Cybersecurity (i.e., software and hardware whitelisting, malware/antivirus applications, firewalls, encryption, Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs), Cryptographic Hashing).

-be able to develop technical solutions to complex problems with minimal guidance.

-have excellent communication skills, with expectation to interface with senior management and the navy customer.


Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

-have high level of attention to detail

- have knowledge and familiarity with Information Technology (IT) network processes, systems, and procedures.
- be proficient in technical letter/proposal writing.

- be able to communicate effectively, clearly present technical approaches and findings to various audiences including senior management
