Job Description

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

This position is part of the Newport News Shipbuilding Reactor Servicing Engineering group, responsible for providing design and engineering support to service Navy nuclear reactors. Reactor Servicing Engineering offers a challenging, high paced, team environment with opportunity to excel and endless possibilities for professional growth. Three main tracks are available: engineering design, project technical and operations. Engineering Design is responsible for Electrical, Structural, Mechanical and Fluid engineering design of variety of reactor servicing equipment and systems. Project Technical Engineering is responsible for work instruction engineering and technical cognizance of servicing work. Operations Engineering is responsible for direct engineering oversight and control of Reactor Servicing work.  This particular position is well suited for an Electrical Engineer and will be with our nuclear crane lifting and handling oversight team. Reactor Servicing – Excellence at the Core.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree and 0 years’ experience OR PDP apprentice certificate and  1 year of engineering experience.  Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
