ELECTRICAL ENGINEER 3/NETWORKING SYSTEMS

Job Description

This position is part of the Integration Section that provides technical support for the development, integration, delivery and support for the Ford Class machinery control system.  The team supports shipboard operations, networks, interfaces, software modelling and hardware/software integration.  Responsibilities for this position included network configuration, troubleshooting, testing and supporting the development of network test and monitoring tools.

 

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Knowledge and understanding of network services and networks such as UDP, TCP/IP and OSPF
•    In-depth understanding and  practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls and routers
•    Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
•    Ability to work several projects simultaneously from design to implementation
•    Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
