The Role

This position regularly communicates with ACE SME's, Supply Chain, Waterfront Trades, and Construction teams. Good communication skills are also needed. Knowledge of the Product Model, SWIMS, SAP, and DDMS are desired.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

Technical Support for shipboard/shop trades in a waterfront environment to support New Carrier Construction and/or RCOH. Ideal candidate shall have waterfront experience, be able to lead designers where applicable, and support the supervisor in a variety of tasks. Shall be experienced in distributed systems including mechanical components. Willingness to adapt and step-up where needed in other disciplines as well.
