The Role

This position is for a Nuclear Engineer 4 within the Quality Assurance Engineering - Nuclear team. Quality Assurance Engineering - Nuclear (QAE-N) is responsible for the Nuclear Quality Management System at NNS. As part of this responsiblility, the team owns processes and procedures that govern critical aspects of Quality for the Trades, Nuclear Inspection, and Engineering. Additionally, QAE-N is also the lead for the Nuclear Certification Council, which is responsible for monitoring the processes and health related to Nuclear Certifications across all programs and implementing improvements or process changes. 

Responsibilities:
-Lead critical improvement initiatives that streamline workflows, reduce waste and enhance efficiency for various Navy Nuclear Programs.
-Provide support to the Nuclear Certification Council and execute corrective actions directed by the Council in collaboration with stakeholders.
-Develop and refine procedures that guarantee every component, system, and test meets stringent regulations and exceeds expectations.
-Spearhead or actively support the adoption of cutting-edge digital tools and technologies, propelling NNS into the future of Quality Assurance.
-Provide leadership support to lead engineers for the planning and preparation of the NAVSEA 08 Evaluation.
-Work hand-in-hand with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and adherence to Quality standards. 
-Lend expertise to ensure smooth and successful evaluation process, upholding NNS's impeccable Quality reputation.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; 
Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; 
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
