The Role

Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs. Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements. Supports and participates in negotiations with customer. Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources. Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters. Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.

 

This position may support a variety of functions within the department including:
- process, procedure and checklist development
- development and tracking of project progress and key program metrics
- development of POA&Ms for technical work plans
- quality initiatives
- training initiatives
- facilities needs
- budgets
- other projects and operational needs within the organization
The successful candidate should be willing to work any project or task regardless of discipline, size, or scope.

The position will include regular interface with design, engineering, program office, management, and administrative personnel to accomplish responsibilities.  And work with external customers as needed.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

The candidate is expected to be granted and maintain SECRET clearance for this position.

The Submarine Engineering Advanced Capabilities team is looking for a strong team member to support the:
-design and engineering teams responsible for the development of the next generation Fast-Attack Submarine, SSN(X)
-the Future Submarine Design and Undersea Warfare (USW) teams who are responsible for VIRGINIA Class submarines and other smaller USW design platforms

This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of new design programs and have influence over what will become the Navy's premier attack submarine platform.

The desired candidate should have experience working with design, engineering and program office personnel and management to accomplish a variety of tasks.  The preferred candidate should have experience assisting in the development of technical and programmatic plans and have experience tracking items to those plans through both formal and informal processes.

The successful candidate should have a background in supporting technical design projects through prior CVN, or SSN experience.

The ideal candidate should:
- be a self-starter and have experience in managing multiple projects
- be resourceful and have good organizational skills
- be able to multi-task various tasks with minimal guidance from management while maintaining first-time quality

The ideal candidate should also be an strong communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.  And have the ability to work and communicate well with all levels of individual contributors, and peers, including customers both internal to NNS and external parties including other Industry Partners, and also Government teams like PMS 351, and NAVSEA 05 to achieve project objectives.

This position is intended to act as a lead and should have experience in doing so.  The candidate should have the ability to manage and track schedules and progress as well as represent the team in meetings as well as briefing management with status updates.
