Job Description

This position is intended for candidates seeking a career opportunity within E25 Test Engineering.  The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing test procedures for mechanical and electrical systems aboard nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines.  The candidate will use their engineering knowledge and experience to acquire and evaluate shipboard test data that will assure ship systems performance meets all technical and contractual requirements. This involves interacting and collaborating with a variety of internal and external customers to execute an integrated test plan that prioritizes safety and quality, but also accounts for schedule and cost. This position is a good opportunity for a candidate interested in hands-on engineering experience with shipboard systems..


Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree and 0 years’ experience OR PDP apprentice certificate and  1 year of engineering experience.  Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
