The Role

The Sea Trials Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of technical aspects of sea trials and at sea testing of ship systems as well as providing overall coordination of efforts required to ensure the proper planning and execution of sea trials. Coordination assignments will include but are not limited to Carrier New Construction, PSA, RCOH, Submarine New Construction, PSA and Fleet Support Programs.


Duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for Sea Trials preparation and execution efforts for a assigned contracts and support on non-assigned contracts as required. This will include interface with external (e.g. SOS, NRRO, NAVSEA, SF, SUBLANT, AIRLANT & CCT/AITs) and internal customers (e.g. Program, Construction, Finance, Contracts, Engineering and Nuclear Propulsion Test Departments).
  • Review contracts, specifications and invoked documents for trials requirements and ensure actions are in place and executed in order to ensure engineering and technical requirements will be fulfilled.
  • Manage the resolution of all trials logistical and technical problems.
  • Develop Sea Trials engineering and technical products
  • Ensure the technical accuracy of all Trials coordination products.
  • Develop and/or facilitate all sea trials trainings and briefings,
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Support the scoping process for Sea Trials centric contract elements and change orders.

 

 

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Must Have

An ABET Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with submarine and aircraft carrier ship systems
  • Experience in interfacing with multiple shipyard departments, government agencies, and Navy commands 
  • Experience with the development, preparation and execution of Test Procedures and associated processes 
  • Knowledge of Sea Trials preparations, processes, products, and execution 
  • Experience facilitating technical meetings and briefing internal/external senior leadership and large audiences
  • This position may include extended work hours and travel.
  • This position will include time at sea on aircraft carriers/submarines and consequently candidates must not meet any disqualifying attributes specified by COMUSFLTFORCOM /COMPACFLTINST 6320.3B or OPNAV Instruction 6420.1B.
