Job Description

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Basic Qualifications

Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

This position is for a senior engineering technician within department E63 – Aircraft Carrier Electrical Engineering.  The candidate may work within the following disciplines: 4160/450V power, 120V power, 120V lighting, IC, Navigation, MCMS, FOCP, arrangements, or wireways, spanning mostly Carrier RCOH programs, with some In-Service and New Construction work.  The ideal candidate will have experience with some or all of the following skills: shipchecking, AutoCAD drafting, performing basic technical calculations, resolving waterfront problems, electrical work methods, and general aircraft carrier system operational knowledge.
