The Role

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

 

Extensive knowledge in specialized functions.  A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

 

Must Have

Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice to Have

The selected candidate Should have the following to qualify for this position:
•Knowledge with PLC based systems including testing and repair
•Prior military or shipyard experience
•Be able to work in multiple environments (office, lab, and shipboard)
•Must have and maintain a confidential level security clearance.Strong project management and organizational skills.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly and accurately.
•The ability to work independently, with a strong sense of initiative.
•The ability to interface with a variety of organizations, including vendors, government representatives, and shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop, install, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment within cost and schedule constraints.
•The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more of the following: PLCs, system troubleshooting (both hands-on and writing instructions for Ship’s Force to troubleshoot), and writing or completing test procedures.
•The ideal candidate will also have experience with MIL-SPEC qualification requirements and testing, including shock, vibration, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
