ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 4

Job Description

Provides technical support to engineers and designers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. 

Basic Qualifications

Associate's Degree and 6 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

This is a submarine Hull Planning Yard program office position in support of SSN modernization and maintenance. Technical writing is required. Project management scope, cost, schedule, performance and risk assessment skills are preferred. Knowledge of submarine ship systems is required. Proficiency of Microsoft office suite and SAP are preferred. Knowledge of general SUBSAFE and EXTORP requirements is preferred. Communication and people skills are a must. Communication experience with NAVSEA, ships force and shipyard personnel is preferred.This job requires attention to detail, technical rigor, a questioning attitude, understanding of basic financial accounting principles and strong leadership skills.
