The Role
Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions. Makes and records observations; performs simple calculations; and collects and prepares data for evaluation. Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment; arranging and dismantling apparatus; and collecting, washing, and storing glassware. Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. May analyze compounds and manage corporate compound collection. Performs technical procedures in one or more of the following areas: Production, Research and Development, Quality Control/Assurance, and/or Compliance/Environmental.
Candidate should be flexible to support highly increased operations and shift rotations during one week of each month. Candidate will be required to cover periodic on-call weekends and holidays. Candidate should be able to lift at least 30 lbs, navigate interior and exterior ladders and stairwells on Navy vessels, and must be able to navigate stairs daily as work space is on 3rd floor of building with no elevator. Candidate should possess a driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles.
Must Have
Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- Must be willing to work periodic overtime, rotating shift schedules, and lift up to 60lbs.
Nice to Have
Preffered candidate will have an Associates or other 2-year technical degree in a relevant field such as health physics (or related sciences) or mathematics. Knowledge of Federal, Navy, State, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures governing radiation health/safety. Technical knowledge of specialized instrumentation, methodologies, and standards associated with external dosimetry, internal monitoring, area monitoring, environmental radiation monitoring, and accident/emergency dosimetry. 3-years related work experience is highly desirable.
