The Role

This Manager, Benefits reports to the HII Corporate Benefits Manager and is responsible for the effective delivery and execution of employee health, welfare and retirement benefits plans and programs that engage and advantage employees and their dependents consistent with the company’s business strategy, applicable laws and regulation, and the contractual obligations and performance objectives applicable to the company’s plan and services providers.

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provides managerial oversight for participant access and experience, enrollments, claims and service question, recordkeeping, eligibility management, plan administration and administrative compliance.  Ensures participant’s experience meets expectation for quality customer service.
  • Manages assigned benefits customer service and administration staff in the engagement, education and assistance of employees and plan participants to ensure employees and dependents are actively engaged in, are accountable for, and fully benefits from their selection and use of the benefit and wellness plans and programs offered.  Lead or oversee benefits staff participation in various engagement events, both in person and virtual, as requested.  Provides subject matter and managerial expertise for employee and dependent engagement, education and communication tools and services.
  • Manages the review of and response to escalated issues.  Service as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert in the interpretation of plan documents, requirements and applicable polies.  Administers applicable appeals processes, and coordinates with various departments, as appropriate.
  • Keeps abreast of benefits strategies, plan designs and technology, as well as all applicable company policies and government regulations.  Works to ensure related systems and process (HRIS, Payroll, etc.) are effectively coordinated.
  • Works collaboratively with corporate and division/subsidiary benefits and human resources; participates in key benefits administration and implementation projects, including the implementation of new plans, significant changes, data transfers, and annual enrollments, etc.
  • Performs common management responsibilities, including the selection, hiring, development and assignment of subordinate personnel and the management of administrative and personnel costs.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
