Job Description
Candidate will be responsible for maintaining NNS Quality Procedures for control of material across all NNS programs. Candidate will work closely with senior members of the Quality Assurance Materials Engineering Team to ensure NNS procedures meet higher tier specifications (e.g. NAVSEA Material Control Standards, Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Requirements Manual, and ISO 9001). Additionally the candidate will be responsible for working with various stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure Quality Procedures meet the needs of the company.
- Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses.
- Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
- Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
- Reviews purchase orders to ensure that they are in compliance with contractual parameters.
- Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.
- Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks.
- Candidate must be able to exhibit good communication and writing skills with the ability to formulate reports to and for senior leadership.
Basic Qualifications
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in procedure creation and maintenance, an understanding of the various levels of material control, general knowledge of material storage processes, and basic understanding of various ship systems across programs. The candidate will be expected to be able to oversee project teams and manage assignments independently.
