The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Manager to lead our team in the development and implementation of Systems Engineering on submarines, carriers and facilities at NNS. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the adoption of MBSE methodologies, leading collaborative projects, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex systems engineering initiatives. The team executes work on existing programs as well as developing new processes and MBSE capabilities on future programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executes activities for current undersea and carrier programs meeting quality, cost and schedule objectives.
- Leads a culture of open communication and knowledge sharing, encouraging cross-functional collaboration and innovation in the adoption of MBSE methodologies.
- Develops a comprehensive MBSE framework that integrates with a collaborative cloud environment, enabling seamless data exchange, model sharing, and version control across multiple programs and stakeholders.
- Utilizes a verification and validation process to achieve the desired operational characteristics and system performance.
- Establishes a centralized repository for storing, managing, and accessing MBSE models, documents, and data, ensuring efficient collaboration and knowledge sharing among program participants.
- Be customer focused working with NNL, PMS351 and other shipyards and vendors
- Is familiar with MBSE methodologies, frameworks and modeling languages ( e.g. SysML, Magic Grid, OOESM)
- A robust leader who can cultivate a collaborative and team-oriented environment, ensuring that every team member has a clear understanding of their role.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
