This person will supervise a team of 6-10  individuals who specialize in developing software and software requirements for reactor plant and propulsion plant instrumentation and control systems using the Naval Nuclear Laboratory Generic Instrumentation and Control toolset.  They must possess strong leadership skills, strong communication skills, and have experience in development of software and software requirements.  The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of shipboard reactor and propulsion electrical systems, be an experienced project manager having used AGILE method of management, and experience with the NNL Generic I&C  systems.

The Role

This role will supervise a team of 6-10  individuals who specialize in developing software and software requirements for reactor plant and propulsion plant instrumentation and control systems using the Naval Nuclear Laboratory Generic Instrumentation and Control toolset.  

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design or

Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.


Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

The preferred candidate will possess the following:

  •  A  BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.  
  • Training and experience in software development for network control systems.  
  • Experience operating and/or designing shipboard electrical instrumentation and control systems.  
  • Strong leadership skills and project management skills including AGILE.  
  • Experience communicating with NAVSEA and Naval Nuclear Laboratory.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, strong communication skills, and have experience in development of software and software requirements.
  • Knowledge of shipboard reactor and propulsion electrical systems, be an experienced project manager having used AGILE method of management, and experience with the NNL Generic I&C  systems.
