The Role

This Engineering Manager 2 position is intended for the PPMC/PPLAN Systems group within Department E86, responsible for supervising a team that focuses on the installation and maintenance of PPMC and PPLAN equipment and all associated shipboard cabling, on CVN78 Class ships. Specifically, the manager will be responsible for ensuring that all PPMC/PPLAN equipment is installed in accordance with all installation standards, specifications, procedures, and methods as well as addressing risks associated with obsolescence issues. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for the review and issuance of all TWDs for PPMC and PPLAN including CCPPs, CCPIs, eIRs, PM cards, and Trouble Records. Beyond the technical aspect of this position, the manager will be required to communicate regularly with the A1B PREPY (NNS), the Reactor Plant Contractors Office (RPCO), Nuclear Quality Control (NQC), Nuclear Test Engineering (E84), and Naval Reactors Resident Office (NRRO). This will be accomplished by establishing and maintaining a strong collaborative relationship between the group and all internal/external customers, while optimizing the engineering processes and assisting with engineering evaluation or analysis. Lastly, the manager will attend various daily waterfront meetings to include Agenda, IWL, and PODs as well as support requests for various upper management meetings to include NAVSEA 08 weekly meetings, RPCO monthly meetings, NAVSEA Audits, and senior staff meetings.

Additionally, the candidate should have a solid technical knowledge base in CVN78 Class Propulsion Plant equipment, preferably PPMC and PPLAN, at a minimum and be familiar with waterfront/trade processes, while effectively applying engineering principles, theories, and concepts to resolve complex engineering challenges. Furthermore, significant deck plate experience and an understanding of deck plate issues are essential.
