The Role

The candidate in this role is responsible for leading a technical organization called ATLAS which is part of E92 Model Based Manufacturing (E92MBM).  ATLAS stands for Approval Triage Liaison Acceleration and Standards.  Below are the responsibilities of ATLAS that supports the development of Visual Work Instructions (VWIs) across model based programs such as CVN80/81, VCS and CLB.  
•    APPROVAL – ensuring technical integrity and approval of VWIs issued to the waterfront that optimally suit the manufacturing capabilities of the shipbuilder
•    TRIAGE – troubleshoot tool related issues to minimize VWI production downtime and elevate unresolved issues to the larger IT community for resolution
•    LIAISON – provide support and expertise across the value stream including but not limited to IPPC, E&D, IT, PMO and Construction in utilization of model based products  
•    ACCELERATION – execute efficiently and improve performance through awareness of evolving tool enhancements, processes and procedures by way of training and data driven actions
•    STANDARDS -  ensuring build authority standardization across programs driven by specifications and contractual requirements

 

The candidate shall lead a diverse and dynamic team of leaders with one mission in mind – to enable and empower our MBM VWI production workforce.  This is a unique opportunity to build upon the foundation and vision of the E92MBM organization where at our core, is to create a digital deliverable that accelerates the development of shipbuilding proficiency. 

 

The candidate in this role will have the responsibility for leading the E92MBM-ATLAS technical organization through achieving three primary objectives:
•    Building, engaging and maintaining a high performing team 
•    Modeling the right leadership behaviors for your team through your relationships with your counterparts across the value stream
•    Lead an organization that provides support of VWIs as they relate to quality, schedule and cost objectives

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design or

Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience or

PhD and 4 years of relevant experience.

 

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
