The Role
HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division seeks a highly motivated, experienced manager of hospitality and protocol to join our Communications team. This individual will lead a dedicated team responsible for guest experience and the coordination of strategic visits and meetings at NNS, as well as the company’s presence at industry trade shows. The ideal candidate will have hospitality and protocol experience, precise attention to detail, and an unmatched commitment to ensuring a positive, memorable experience for company guests.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the process and coordination of tours and visits to Newport News Shipbuilding, working with all levels of leadership and other departments to ensure protocol processes and procedures are in compliance with government regulations and organizational policies.
- Preparing and coordinating the planning and execution of high-level meetings for company leadership.
- Using protocol and hospitality training to welcome guests and ensure they have a positive experience by their needs and responding promptly to ensure all requests are addressed
- Applying rigorous attention to detail to ensure seamless meetings and visits, to include luncheons, dinners and events as appropriate.
- Coordinating Newport News Shipbuilding’s presence at industry trade shows in alignment with HII’s corporate office and other two divisions.
- Overseeing the preparation of official gifts.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master?s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
- Hospitality experience
- Protocol officer certification or equivalent experience
- Managerial/supervisory experience
- Strong communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with a positive demeanor
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field
- Experience working in a government or diplomatic environment
- Experience with military and/or international etiquette
