The Role

Maintains a controlled documentation system, record retention, and information services functions including electronic records retention processes. Ensures compliance to the requirements from regulatory agencies.  Maintains the technical and non-technical documentation change system.  Assures procedures are in place to classify and maintain records.  Interprets and enforces all documentation formatting, standards, policies, and operating procedure requirements.  Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.  Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly and processes.  Oversee and manage employees.  Ensures that all records are maintain in a readily retrievable manner suitable for audits.  Ensure all AOR’s is properly manned and has all necessary equipment to perform job duties.  Encourage and facilitate employee development focused on identifying skills and knowledge to increase personal effectiveness and value of individual contributions.  Communicate with upper management to give input as to changes of work scope, manning requirements and budget request.  Communicate with upper management to make aware of upcoming events or sudden scheduling on a contracts. Will be expected to prioritize work to meet production schedules.  

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master?s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to coordinate corrective actions by engineering and trades departments within the shipyard. 
Have strong customer service skills and be able to communicate and interact with U.S. Navy personnel and all levels of management within the company.
Have an in depth knowledge of aircraft carrier and submarine construction processes and non-Nuclear systems/procedures.
Has demonstrated the ability to effectively manage and direct the work of others.
Strong technical knowledge of the Shipbuilding Construction process (Outfitting /Structural), i.e... Work package, NDT, Piping, Record Certification, Records Retention and storage.
Use a personal computer in performance of analysis and development of documentation/reports. 
Able to work under pressure and independently.
Able to follow through with assigned task promptly.
Should be proficient in use of SAP and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Good written and verbal communication. Have knowledge to interpret drawings and work packages.
