Basic Qualifications
Apprentice Certification, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 6 years of applicable, progressive technical, professional and/or supervisory work experience. A candidate must have a thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking an engaging, forward thinking leader to lead first shift O38 radiography operations including the safe execution of field radiography. This position will fill the Radiation Safety Officer position for NNS and will ultimately be responsible for the O38 radiation safety program across all shifts and all O38 radiography operations. This is a 1st shift position with frequent oversight and surveillance of 3rd shift radiography safety program as well as offsite required travel.

This candidate should be knowledgeable of RT/MT/PT/ET/UT inspection processes/principles, and have a working level knowledge of shipbuilding construction processes across programs. The candidate should have considerable knowledge of the safety, security, and execution requirements for Radiography. The candidate should be well versed in fundamental Quality Control and Quality Assurance principles. The candidate should possess a working level knowledge of EVMS and have the ability to manage direct and indirect budgets. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to build teams with internal/external customers and within their own organization. This position evaluates, implements, and controls the company’s industrial radiography radiation safety program. Recommends and develops the policies for safely utilizing a radiography source onboard commissioned Navy vessels, and training facilities within temporary area operations, in permanent radiography areas and during emergency situations involving an irretrievable (hung-out) source. Recommends and develops policies for inspection standards, emergency procedures, and standard operating procedures. Controls personnel radiation exposures. Coordinates shipping and receiving radioactive materials within DOT/NRC regulations. Maintains all associated radiography equipment and calibration. Monitors and controls exposure to personnel and the environment. Stays abreast of NRC and Virginia Radiation Health Department regulations and ensures that radiation levels and personnel exposures are in compliance with standards. Develop and direct radiation safety training and safety monitoring programs. Radiography experience is highly preferred for this position. This position involves recurrent oversight of 1st and 3rd shift radiography safety program and frequent travel offsite specifically, KSO during radiographic operations.
