Job Description
This posting will support an upcoming Career Job Fair that is scheduled for Thursday, April 13th. This job fair is being held to support the IPPC (Integrated Planning and Production Control) Division of HII – Newport News Shipbuilding as well as the Engineering & Design division in filling Production Planning & Scheduling 1 positions. External interviews will be conducted by video and internal candidates will interview at the NetCenter located in Newport News, VA.
Newport News Shipbuilding is currently seeking applicants who are looking to do something special and be a part of the transformation of Shipbuilding. IPPC is a diverse organization supporting NNS on multiple Carrier and Submarine Programs. IPPC is responsible for developing and executing the plan to ensure Engineering, Planning, material, and work packages support manufacturing and assembly organizations. IPPC & E&D offer a variety of job opportunities in Build Strategy, Work Package Planning, Scheduling, Production Control, Engineering Planning, and Integrated Digital Shipbuilding. Newport News Shipbuilding is looking for highly motivated employees who want to be a part of a team.
Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Preferred Qualifications
This position will also require the ability to
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Occasionally stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, climb and twist
- Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequently use hands to handle, touch and manipulate items
- Occasional exposure to noise levels that require hearing protection
