The Role

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients..

 

Seeking energetic, enthusiastic, dependable, flexible, and organized candidate who has excellent logistics and people skills. Candidate will need to interact with all levels of leadership, VIP stakeholders and shipbuilders to lead the Digital Shipbuilding Mobile Experience (MX Trailer) in providing an educational overview of NNS's digital transformation. This successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual that will also support submarine taskings within the Digital Engineering Program Management Office (DE PMO) under Engineering and Design Process and Tools (EDPT). The individual will maintain the digital portfolio and roadmaps, track key program metrics and assist in providing programmatic oversight for projects under the DE PMO cognizance. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing multiple and complex projects, being proficient in organization and time management, and the ability to lay out and track effective POAMs that drive execution to completion. Prior knowledge in model-based engineering, iDS, IPDE, and/or Visual Work Instruction (VWI) processes are helpful but not mandatory.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

•    A willingness to relay our Digital and Transformation Story to various audiences / levels of leadership; this includes presenting topics in the MX trailer as needed 
•    Ability to assist with set-up / tear-down of MX trailer for internal and external commitments
•    Availability to travel and work outside of normal business hours for occasional on-site and off-site events (10% external travel; 20% local travel)
•    Capacity to lead and work in a cooperative team environment
•    Ability to coordinate schedules, logistics, and maintenance as needed
•    Aptitude to facilitate meetings as they relate to the MX trailer
•    General understanding of working relationship between NNS, EB, and NAVSEA
•    Credentials to take photos at various events (can be obtained after hire)
•    Ability and flexibility to troubleshoot and resolve issues on the fly; Creative problem solver
•    Expectation is not to be the subject matter expert, but must ensure the work presented reflects thorough analysis, logical structure, actionable next steps and completed staff work
•    Strong media and marketing principles, and communication skills; both verbal and technical writing skills with internal and external parties
•    Strong understanding of project management processes and knowledge areas
•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify gaps or missing elements in plans, such as absent ECDs, unclear next steps or incomplete deliverables
•    General excel knowledge of chart creations and filtering data, data cleaning and generating reports
•    Demonstrates the ability to ask the right questions and gather the necessary context to ensure a complete understanding of the problem before pursuing solutions
•    Skilled at synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders, documents and data sources to form a clear picture of objectives, challenges and dependencies
•    General knowledge of engineering and design processes and tools on submarines or carriers
•    General knowledge of shipbuilding including its full value stream
•    Ability to work in ambiguity and with autonomy
•    Personal drive towards innovation and improved efficiency in all things
•    Ability to embrace and advocate change
•    Proficiency with event technology and digital tools
•    Attention to detail
•    Willingness to learn and grow by asking questions
