The Role
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
The Propulsion Plant Planning Yard Reactor Plant Systems team is seeking a highly skilled, organized, and dynamic Project Management Analyst (PMA). As a PMA, you will help manage a broad portfolio of projects centered around fleet support and lifecycle management of both FORD and NIMITZ Class aircraft carriers. The desired candidate will play a leading role in developing project plans and tracking development efforts for our engineering department. This includes planning project phases, tracking timely execution, and managing stakeholder expectations, as well as analyzing data related to project performance, risks, and outcomes to provide insights for informed decision-making. This role involves regular communication and interaction with personnel of varying levels across the Planning Yard and other NNS departments, as well as NNL and NAVSEA customers. The ideal candidate should be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and a wide variety tasks. The candidate should possess leadership and strong interpersonal skills necessary for collaboration and solving complex problems with various team members.
Responsibilities:
- Assist engineers with developing project plans, including schedules and estimates for cost and labor.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date record of all on-going projects, tracking their status, and proactively addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the engineering and design Teams, and the external customers to ensure timely identification and resolution of problems while maintaining project schedules and commitment dates.
- Analyze and report on project metrics and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
- Extensive project management experience, from schedule development to cost and labor estimates.
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience solving difficult problems and managing risk
- Good knowledge management skills
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
- Experience with agile project management processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Atlassian Jira
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
- PMP certification a plus
