Senior Undersea Systems Engineer

Job Description

This position is for a senior project engineer in the Undersea Systems group within the Submarine Engineering – Advanced Capabilities department.  The Undersea Systems group is responsible for concept design, development and execution of programs and projects to integrate advanced systems and payloads onto submarines and other platforms. 

This position will be responsible for leading cross discipline teams of engineers and designers to execute tasking as assigned by the program manager.  This position will interface with customers and partners both internal and external to HII and will be responsible for day-to-day project management and engineering activities such as working with Subject Matter Expert (SME) leads to develop and execute technical project plans, estimating schedules and costs, tracking progress, coordinating resolution of technical issues, and identifying risks and concerns to the program manager.

 

This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.

Basic Qualifications

9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate must be familiar with submarines and undersea systems (such as UUVs) with experience in leading design and modernization engineering activities.  This position requires a current final SECRET clearance.
