The Role

Launch your career as a Visual Work Instruction Specialist by being an integral member of highly charged and dynamic team that is tasked with transforming the shipbuilding business by way of delivering model based designs/plans to the deckplate. E92 supports multiple shipbuilding programs and has established itself as a leader in an industry that is rapidly progressing towards manufacturing in a model based design environment. Responsibilities include consuming model based data and breaking it down into a consumable format that matches the workscope at hand, while thinking outside the box and practicing innovative thinking in a challenging workspace.


The candidate in this role will mentor and lead all levels of personnel responsible for developing Visual Work Instructions (VWIs).  The candidate will also assist in analyzing digital design data and utilize these products in conjunction with build plans to create quality and accurate VWIs. Interprets and adds design elements and portions of systems for VWIs to meet manufacturing and installation requirements. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, Teamcenter, NX, SAP, NGP and TDP. Incorporates required changes as applicable. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.  The candidate will makes decisions that directly impact departmental goals and business operations. They will also coordinate with other organizations in the value stream to meet program objectives.  Along with performing all other duties as assigned.

Must Have

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field and 9 years of relevant, exempt experience. Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant, exempt experience.


One of the following may be used as equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience 
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience


Note: Experience obtained while performing work as a Visual Instruction Developer will be considered towards qualifying ONLY for Exempt jobs specific to Visual Instruction job titles.

Nice to Have

Candidate will be expected to be highly proficient in shipbuilding functions, including but not limited to NX/Teamcenter tools, SAP, and Ship construction. 

candidate will also need to oversee projects and interact with managers/directors on a re-occurring basis.

Ideal candidate would have an understanding of industrial manufacturing standards and common design practices, with experience in SAP, Siemens toolsets, and Microsoft Office applications.
