The Role

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. 

 

Candidate should have a complete understanding of the Windows Server operating systems.  Experience supporting Windows Servers in an ESX virtual environment and on   Physical hardware.  Additional knowledge of SAN storage, ESX Virtual Center, and Simplivity hardware is a plus.  The use of PowerShell and other scripting tools are highly desired.  Duties include administrative operational and technical support for a variety of different Windows servers that are geographically dispersed across the country, which includes the following items: system patching & upgrades, capacity planning, performance monitoring, problem resolution, providing timely metrics on server availability, and implementation and maintenance of customer and Security procedures.   Familiarity with the processes and procedures for server upgrades and data migration tools.


Candidate should be able to coordinate and work with other organizations in support of the customer.  Individual will enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality services and meeting schedules while complying with service offerings and other customer agreements.


Should be detailed orientated and able to work in a fast paced, virtual team environment with general supervision.  Understand and exhibit a strong team concept approach.  Individual should provide timely and effective customer support in a professional, responsive manner. Exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills, while being self-motivated, with a willingness to learn.   Responding to trouble and support tickets in a timely manner to meet published SLAs, monitor systems for errors and system performance.  Creating, maintaining, and following formal processes.  Have an understanding of SOX controls to support financial systems.

 

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.

 

Nice to Have

  • Willing to periodically work after scheduled hours

  • Capable of obtaining a Security Clearance
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
