The Role
The Contracts Director for Ingalls Shipbuilding is responsible for the overall negotiation, administration, management, and oversight of all prime contracts. This role works closely with the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), Naval Ship Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with deep expertise in US government contracting and a strong background in managing complex, performance-based construction and service contracts, specifically in the maritime or defense industry. This role finds qualified candidates are found from diverse professional backgrounds which may include, engineering, finance and accounting, project management, supply chain management, and business administration.
Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts. Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies and customer specifications. Establishes, maintains, and provides training to the organization ensuring compliance with company and customer requirements. Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepares bids; processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information.
