The Role
Candidate will be responsible for establishing, overseeing, and managing all activities related to assigned power and lighting shipboard systems. Candidate will perform the following: Research, development, and design of electrical components, equipment, and systems, in accordance with all contractual requirements, military and commercial specifications; initiate procurement specifications; review and approve supplier proposals; review, comment on, adjudicate and approve supplier furnished information for translation into construction products; interface with vendors and Navy technical representatives; support vendor design reviews and testing; develop drawings and other documents IAW Mil-Specs and contract drawings; interface with other disciplines and departments to ensure a seamless integration of assigned systems into the shipboard environment; address and resolve technical issues, and make decisions on problems in his/her area of responsibility; support shipbuilding production department as required.
Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and effect the image of the organization technological capability. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Some travel required.

Senior level expertise regarding Electric Plant, Power Generation and Distribution, 4160V Distribution System, and Power Systems Analysis (Fault Current and Circuit Coordination). Represents HII-Ingalls with customers, suppliers, and industry at large, as the technical lead in the afore mentioned areas. Supports new electrical technology insertion for various HII-Ingalls programs. Serves as the shipyard authority on Power Systems Distribution and Analysis, Ship to Shore Connection, Electric Cable, and leader of innovative development initiatives within Engineering, and with Operations, and provides professional technical mentoring entry and junior level Engineers.
