Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking skilled Fab Shop Mechanics and Machine Operators who want to bring their mechanical ability and fabrication experience to America’s Shipyard.
As a Fab Shop Mechanic / Machine Operator, you’ll support the machining and fabrication of critical metal components used throughout the construction of the U.S. Navy’s most advanced vessels. From operating heavy machinery to performing equipment maintenance, your work directly contributes to the quality, accuracy, and reliability of shipbuilding operations.

What You Can Earn
• Earn $35.99 per hour

What You’ll Do
• Operate fabrication shop machinery such as presses, shears, rollers, saws, grinders, and other metalforming equipment
• Perform mechanical maintenance and basic troubleshooting on shop equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Fabricate, cut, shape, and prepare metal components according to specifications, drawings, and blueprints
• Verify measurements, maintain accuracy, and inspect completed work for quality standards
• Support production needs in an industrial environment with varying tasks and priorities
• Work in shop and shipyard environments that may include noise, heat, and active machining areas

What You Bring
• Experience operating industrial machinery or working in a fabrication/mechanical shop
• Ability to read and interpret measurements, drawings, and basic blueprints
• Skill with mechanical tools, fabrication equipment, and shop safety practices
• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
• Willingness to work in an active industrial environment and continue building your craft skills
