The Role

Craft. Detail. Excellence. Become a Skilled Joiner.
Do you have the craftsmanship and precision needed to build and install the interior structures that define the look, feel, and function of the most advanced naval vessels in the world? Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking Skilled Joiners who take pride in fabrication, installation, and high‑quality finish work across wood and metal components.

As a Joiner, you’ll fabricate, assemble, install, and repair shipboard bulkheads, interior finishes, deck structures, furniture, and a wide range of outfitting items. Your craftsmanship shapes the living and working spaces sailors depend on every day — ensuring durability, functionality, and comfort throughout the ship.

If you’re ready to apply your joiner expertise at “America’s Shipyard,” a rewarding career at Ingalls Shipbuilding — Mississippi’s largest private employer — is waiting.

What You Can Earn
• Earn up to $36.25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
• Additional opportunities for overtime and long‑term career growth

What You’ll Do
• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair wood and metal components throughout the ship
• Install bulkheads, interior finishes, cabin accessories, furniture, racks, bins, decking structures, and decorative ceilings
• Lay out work from drawings, specifications, blueprints, and shop sketches
• Perform precise measurement, cutting, fastening, and finishing of materials
• Ensure proper mounting and alignment of outfitting items, including partitions, panels, and deck structures
• Work in shipboard environments that may include heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
• Support production needs across multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing setting
• Follow Ingalls’ strong safety standards in all work areas

Why This Work Matters
Joiners build the functional spaces where sailors live, work, and operate — from crew quarters and command centers to passageways and support areas. Your craftsmanship shapes the experience of everyone aboard, contributing directly to safety, comfort, and mission success.

What You Bring
• Experience in joiner work, carpentry, metal fabrication, interior installation, or similar trades
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Skill in fabricating, installing, and finishing wood and metal components
• Strong commitment to detail, safety, and craftsmanship
• Willingness to work in an active industrial environment supporting ship construction

Must Have

Minimum of 1 year experience as a Joiner or related craft experience in shipfitting, carpentry or sheetmetal and be able to pass the Tacker Certification test.

Nice to Have
