The Role
The desired candidate will be responsible for the management, leadership and oversight of Planning Yard Services activities in the Norfolk. Ingalls Planning Yard (PY) Services provides life cycle engineering, logistics, and material in support of the CG47, LPD17, LHA/D and LCS Class Ships activities. This position will provide management representative for all direct report and matrixed resources assigned to Planning Yard Services programs in Norfolk, VA. Duties also include primary interface with the Customer at all levels especially Government waterfront representatives and installing activities.
Additionally, this position's scope involves a broad range of activities including:
A. Provide local coordination of engineering, logistics, and material support activities for PY Services programs.
B. Daily interface with SEA21 Program Management Representatives, Regional Maintenance Center Representatives, Type Commanders (TYCOM), installing activity and other Government activities and support contractors as required to continue developing PY Services role in current and future ship repair and life cycle support programs.
C. Maintain proactive PY Services presence in the Norfolk area, promoting Ingalls engineering, logistics, and material support capabilities to Customers on the waterfront.
D. Represent PY Services in key meetings in Norfolk, Pascagoula, and any other localities where a programs representative is required.
E. Provide program analysis, status and recommendations to Customer and PY Services management.
F. Interface directly with PY Services current and potential partners, and government activities for current and future business opportunities.
Must Have
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline, plus a minimum of 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's degree and 4 years relevant experience.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with LPD17 and LHA/D ship classes. Prior management and/or waterfront experience with US Navy availabilities is desired.
- Possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
- Have strong analytical and problem solving skills and be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
