The Role
Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as team lead supporting LHA Ship Program Manager (SPM)working with Operations, Supply Chain, Planning and Engineering. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, production management and customer represntatives. Considered expert in field within the organization. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex tasks. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Responsible for the execution of objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's degree and 6 years relevant experience.
Nice to Have
Educational experience in technical, process and/or project management fields. Ability to lead and manage teams of multiple complexities and sizes to reach a desired outcome. Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are developed consistent with organization objectives. Experience with projects that exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment. Experience serving as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives. Act as a primary interface with SSGC and Navy customers through regular interactions and represent HII interests in such occasions Familiarity with HII internal construction and testing processes will be benefical in the desired position..Excperience with executing large scale projects with multi organizational teams will be beneficial in supporting SPM, working with Operations, Supply Chain, Planning and Engineering to achieve desired results.
