The Role
The Hull Technical Manager will be a front line management representative responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines and general policies. Additionally, manager will be responsible for supervisory personnel tasks including employee evaluations, training, growth, mentoring, and disciplinary actions. Responsible for the technical review of all hull structure and foundation 3D and 2D functional engineering products, scantling development, combustion air uptake analysis, Field Engineering support, Engineering Test and Trials support, Program support, multi-disciplinary support relating to distributive systems hangers and mounting methods, and hull insulation requirements. Experienced and knowledgeable in Naval hull structure and foundation technical requirements and calculation methodologies. Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling of projects. Conducts technical briefings and discussions with internal and external customers
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Engineering and 6 years of related experience.
Nice to Have
- Fluent understanding of Ship Specifications in all areas of Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, Foundations, Materials, Deck Machinery Operation, Test, and Loading Requirements
- Advanced level of understanding of evaluation of foundations via DDAM using FEA.
- Advanced level of understanding of materials and the specifications that govern them.
- Basic understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as it relates to combustion air uptake shock, thermal, and fatigue analysis
- Superior communication skills including past experience with interfacing with Operations and the Navy
- Leadership experience with small to large projects
- Formal Leadership training is preferred
- A good understanding of EVMS
- Experience in creating a Plan including estimating, budget allocation, process development and Schedule creation
