The Role
Position is responsible for managing all employees, and implementing all processes, and procedures for electrical engineering functions associated with new construction projects. Oversees work-scope and manpower planning, especially for critical skill areas. Works with CAMs (Cost Account Managers) to track and address performance, cost, schedule, and to identify risks and opportunities for each portfolio program. Share technical expertise and provide guidance as applicable for the specific areas of Electrical Technical such as Power, Lighting, Controls, Combat Systems and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3). Provide guidance similarly for Electrical Design in the areas of Arrangements, Cableways and Cable Routing.Maintain familiarity with all unique toolsets utilized by the department to provide electrical design and construction products such as MEL, EDP, and Setroute/CMPIC. Liaison with IT and others as applicable to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner, and recommended enhancements are pursued and funded for implementations. Set guidelines within the department particularly regarding personal and professional behaviors. Distribute correspondence or provide verbal reminders to the entire team to ensure consistent messaging. Set and meet department level commitments. Collaborate closely with other engineering Chiefs, Program SDMs as well as peers from other departments. Interface and report up and out of the department to the Director and VP levels regarding major technical issues and resolutions, employee development and succession planning. Support the customer as applicable via weekly and bi-weekly technical sessions and quarterly program reviews, ensuring the appropriate technical representation is provided.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A Master's of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 6 years of relevant experience are preferred.
Nice to Have
- Prior CAM experience and EVMS experience are preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience.
