The Role
The Manager Engineering – Trial Coordinator oversees all planning, coordination, and execution activities associated with Ingalls Shipbuilding countdown, in-port, and at-sea trial programs. This role ensures that all trial operations meet established cost, quality, and schedule objectives while maintaining compliance with company policies, program requirements, and applicable regulations.Key responsibilities include:• Leading the development and management of trial plans, schedules, logistics, ship movement activities, and risk mitigation strategies.• Integrating and coordinating input from internal stakeholders and government representatives to ensure alignment across all trial-related functions.• Managing budgets, schedules, and performance standards, and serving as Cost Account Manager (CAM) for the assigned cost center.• Providing leadership and guidance to subordinate supervisors, test engineering personnel, and test and trials staff to achieve organizational objectives.• Representing the organization as a primary point of contact with internal leadership, external partners, and customer representatives on matters related to trials and contract requirements.• Delivering briefings, updates, and formal presentations for senior management and government personnel.• Collaborating closely with Program Management, Ship Construction Management, Engineering Management, Test & Trials, Test Engineering, Supply Chain, and other key stakeholders to ensure effective execution of trial activities.This position plays a vital role in ensuring successful ship trials through strong leadership, coordination, communication, and disciplined program execution

Experience or strong understanding of the Code of Federal Regulations related to ships underway operations, as well as applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations. • Marine navigation experience. • Knowledge of engineering test requirements and procedures associated with at sea trials. • Experience managing budget risks and identifying cost or schedule improvement opportunities. • Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) qualification or comparable operational maritime experience. • Experience coordinating services required to support underway operations, including food stores, aircraft support, and operations area clearance. • Experience or familiarity with shipbuilding contracts and associated contractual requirements
