Job Description

Develops and implements testing and inspection procedures. Tests raw material, chemicals, and/or finished product to quality controls to ensure compliance with quality standards and applicable government regulations. Audits testing results to determine if product specifications are met. Advises operating units on quality control standards for raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, and finished products. Recommends corrective action where necessary and develops plant quality control manuals.

Basic Qualifications

*Must attach a resume.

*Requires an AA degree plus 8 years of shipbuilding or heavy industry experience or

*A BS in Engineering and 4 years of progressive technical experience in research, Engineering, Design or equivalent or

*A MS in Engineering and professional registration with 2  years of shipbuilding or heavy industry experience or

*A combination of 12 years experience in shipbuilding or heavy industry  and NDT experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

*Must have 10 years minimum of progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience.

*Must have prior experience in all of the external certifications: UT, VT, MT RT, & PT

*Prior ASNT  level 3 experience required or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications

Must have a demonstrated thorough understanding of ship construction, manufacturing processes, budget, and operations.

*Demonstrated basic computer skills are required.

*Must be able to read a blueprint.

*Must have ability to inspect confined spaces, stooping, crawling, bending, climbing ladders and stairs when required.
