The Role

Manager Engineering Test & Certifications is responsible for the overall scheduling, performance, and success of Ingalls Shipbuilding Test Program. 

Responsibilities include: planning, risk management, and organizational unit's performance addressing all aspects of cost, schedule, and technical quality. Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals, objectives, and company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization's objectives and schedules. Regularly requires analysis of alternative course of actions. Integrates input from multiple sources. Responsible for successful operation of activities. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies and practices. Influences & impacts strategy and goals of the organization through their role. Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance standards, and executes responsibilities as Cost Account Manager (CAM) for cognizance cost centers within the organization. Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors or specialist employees. Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on contracts or operations with regard to overall Test Engineering charters and related contract requirements. Conducts briefings and meetings for senior management and customer representatives. Interacts with equivalent-level management concerning matters of significance to the company. Has regular interaction with the Engineering Management, Craft Management, Supply Chain, Program Management and Ship Design Managers.

Must Have

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of Engineering and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A Master of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 6 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Nice to Have

  • Prior leadership or managerial experience
  • Secret Security Clearance 
  • Knowledge and experience with ARAS, Earned Value Management and SAP 
  • Knowledge of and prior test interface with the Navy
