The Role
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. LHA Ship construction program management role managing of critical mechanical and other systems production/qualifications both shipboard and with suppliers. Supports all ongoing LHA new construction ships and advance planning & early projects for any future ship construction contracts. Lead contract documents/specifications problem resolutions such as, but not limited to condition reports, administrative packages, waivers/deviations. Leadership role leading, problem solving and presenting to the Government customer. Critical to this position success is the ability to review critical supplier schedules, progress reports & participate in weekly progress meetings, develop analysis of alternatives during problem solving, make and recommend programmatic decisions, technical writing, and ability to write program directives, etc.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of related professional experience; OR Master's Degree and 6 years of related professional experience.
Nice to Have
Project management, planning/engineering experience. Familiar with supply chain/procurement management, shipboard equipment qualifications process/requirements. The preferred candidate has advanced knowledge with Microsoft tools, and an understanding of earned value management system. Additionally, the preferred candidate has Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, effective multitasking and organizational skills, strong attention and adherence to details, deadlines & constraints and excellent prioritization and decision-making skills, especially when presented with multiple options. Proven experience in understanding contractual documentation, purchase specifications, configuration management, metrics analysis and skilled in the development of worksheets, charts, graphs, and presentations using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications. Experience and ability to interact with all levels of management across the value stream, as well as external customers is preferred. Project schedule and financial experience.
